We played a game to generate futures*

Future Generation parameters

  • ARC: Collapse over a decade

  • TERRAIN: Disease

  • OBJECT: Artwork

  • MOOD: Optimism

Description

The populace has been overcome with antibiotic resistant disease over the last decade. The average person has multiple vaccines and medicines injected throughout the day, is balding from radiation therapies, and some must wear masks throughout the day through which they breathe the medicines they cannot otherwise ingest.

Yet in the face of collapse, there is optimism and art: The administration of medicine is incorporated into high fashion, epipen packs are the new fanny packs, scattered balding patterns are chic, and syringes poking from the body are worn instead of jewelry.

* We played a game, “The Thing From the Future” . Here is a summary of gameplay:

A card is drawn for each of the following parameters: ARC (over a time period), TERRAIN, OBJECT, MOOD

With these parameters, interpret, envisioneer, and futurecraft a thing from such a future, and then draw and describe it.
